GRAB your sombrero as a Mexican wave takes over a city gallery.

The National Glass Centre will be hosting a free Mexican Family Fun Day and Fiesta on Saturday from 10am to 10pm.

The themed day is part of the national Museums at Night project which encourages people to see their local museums in a different light.

Visitors can enjoy Mexican-themed glass painting, storytelling and face painting, make-your-own glass bead pendant workshops for adults, and glass blowing demonstrations by artists the De La Torre Brothers. 

In the evening, the Mexican Fiesta will continue in the venue’s Brasserie, in association with ¡VAMOS! Festival, featuring a Mexican tapas menu and live music from a Mariachi band.

Also on Saturday, The Museum and Winter Gardens will be hosting a War Games family night, while Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art in Fawcett Street, will stage an End of Exhibition Party.

•War Games Family Night is from 6pm to 8.30pm and costs £5; the End of Exhibition Party runs from 4pm to 8pm and is free.
