A SUNDERLAND artist has taken his work to London to showcase the seven colours of love on the banks of the River Thames.

International artist and senior lecturer in art and design at the University of Sunderland, Lothar Götz, has brought to life the summer of love, after showcasing his work at Southbank Centre’s Festival of Love in London.

The Happy Together exhibition includes an enormous floor painting which looks at the many ballroom dances which have taken place at the Clore Ballroom at the Southbank Centre.

The work has transformed the space into a colourful dance floor to celebrate all the different forms of love.

All the pieces of work overlap and contain several colours and end up forming different combinations, resulting in them all being Happy Together in ever-changing combinations.

Lothar said: “Being involved in Southbank Centre’s Festival of Love in London is particularly special in the year of the legalisation of gay marriage, which is a vital step in establishing the equality of all types of love in the letter, as well as the spirit, of the law.”
