COME and join us for Christmas sing-song!
The Echo’s annual Christmas Carol Service will be taking place at Sunderland Minster on Monday – and we’d love to see you there.
Now in its third year, the service will see a host of high-profile Wearsiders conduct readings, including Northeast Press managing director Stuart Birkett, Echo acting editor Richard Ord and Sunderland City Council leader Paul Watson. The university’s vice-chancellor and chief executive, Professor Peter Fidler, SAFC’s commercial director Gary Hutchinson and city council chief executive Dr Dave Smith will also be taking part.
Richard Ord said: “With Christmas just round the corner, what better way to celebrate than with a family evening of popular carols and good cheer?
“The minster is a marvellous backdrop to what is a great family evening to get everyone into the spirit of Christmas.
“The evening is open to people of all ages and we’d love to see as many there as possible.”
Classic carols including Ding Dong Merrily on High, O Little Town of Bethlehem and God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen are part of the ceremony. Little Donkey, penned by the Wearside-born songwriter Eric Boswell, will also feature.
Mulled wine will be served after the service.
The service will take place at Sunderland Minster on Monday at 6.30pm.
