Jamie’s mum Lorraine Lambert, chief executive for South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust, is hoping Wearsiders get behind her son.
She said: “We have had so many messages of support and encouragement from people across the North East who have known Jamie all his life and seen him develop as a performer. We’ve also heard from his old school and friends. It’s been difficult to keep up, there are so many.
“He is really overwhelmed by how kind people have been.”
The proud mum will be in the crowd for tonight’s final – which will see the champions land a place at the Royal Variety Performance.
She added: “We are all so excited and I can’t wait to be in the audience tonight to watch Jamie perform. I will have to make sure I have waterproof mascara on.
“Jamie has always wanted a career as a professional performer and Collabro has been a tremendous success so far.
“They not only wowed the audience and judges but quickly developed a worldwide following on Twitter, Facebook and other social media forums.
“They have developed a fantastic fan base known as ‘Collaborators’ who have been following every step of the competition and everyone is wishing them success in the final.
“We just hope people pick up their phones and vote.”
