SINGERS in Sunderland have the chance to turn their dream into reality tomorrow, as the search for the next X Factor winner begins.

Open auditions for the ITV1 talent show will be held at The Bridges shopping centre.

It is the first time it has held the pre-audition sessions – which are the first step on the way to appearing on the television show.

Shopping centre bosses are putting last-minute preparations in place for the event, which will run from 10am to 3pm in the former Ramsdens unit.

Hopefuls are expected to arrive from 9.30am, and helpers will be on hand to guide them towards the audition – which will be in front of show producer’s rather than the celebrity judging panel.

Andy Bradley, centre director, said: “We are absolutely delighted that the X Factor have asked use to hold these pre-auditions.

“It’s fantastic for the centre and it gives people a central location to come along and show off their talents.”

This series, now in its 10th year, will see the return of Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell to the judging panel.

This year, entrants will have two sets of auditions, should they make it through tomorrow’s initial stage.

Singers will go before the judges in an intimate audition room, and if they gain three or more yes votes, they will go on to perform in an arena, to prove they can also impress an audience, before securing a coveted place at bootcamp.

The live show stage of the competition will begin in October, with the final show to be held in front of a crowd of 10,000 fans at Wembley Arena.

Anyone who wants to audition tomorrow must be 14 years or over, and those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and should take along a photo ID with them
