HAS Sunderland got talent?

Genfactor judges found out at auditions for the annual talent show.

Held by Gentoo, the contest gives young people from Sunderland the chance to perform on stage at the Sunderland Empire.

Michelle Meldrum, managing director, Gentoo operations, said: “The Genfactor competition has really helped us to engage with young people in a different way.

“Not only does this initiative help young people to make new friends and improve confidence, it gives them the opportunity to showcase their talents.

“Over 100 young people have auditioned, all with the hope of making it through to our boot camps which will take place over the summer. We have seen some really unique acts this year and the talent we have seen has been unbelievable. It’s great to see young people perform and I for one am very excited about finding our next big star.”

Boot camps will take place over the summer, where acts will battle it out to secure a place in the final at the Empire on Wednesday, November 19.
