RAISE a glass to a popular beer festival which returns this weekend. Ashbrooke Beer Festival kicks off at Ashbrooke Sports Club tomorrow night and runs until Sunday.

Last year’s event proved so popular that punters drank it dry and it was forced to close a day early.

But organisers have ordered extra stock to make sure that doesn’t happen again.

There will be more than thirty real ales and ciders available, as well as a wine and cava section.

The annual festival, now in its fifth year, has grown to become one of the most popular events held at Ashbrooke Sports Club.

Sport manager Gerard Harvey said: “The festival has been a great bonus to us. It’s built and built over the years. We get a few thousand people coming along over the course of the weekend and the weather always helps.

“This year we will also have wine, cava and food, we try to cater for all tastes.”

Speaking about last year’s event, he said: “It was nice that everyone came along and had a nice time, but we’ve made sure to order more beer this time.”

Musician Paul Liddell will be performing from 7.30pm tomorrow and there will be various bands and artists taking to the stage from 3pm onwards on Saturday.

Entry is £6, which includes a first drink and commemorative glass.
