Let's talk football... The Mags got the bragging rights last week then, but it wasn't convincing enough to give them sufficient pride to really rub it in at work this week.
So hopefully you are feeling good and looking forward to this weekend. Two derbies in a space of six days, what were the Premiership chiefs thinking when they planned the fixtures.

Perhaps they thought all our clubs were going to be really in the mire at this stage of the season, but thanks to the Derbys, Fulhams and others it isn't the case and with a view to next season I can tell you something exciting.

I'm going to be hosting the new kit launch at the Stadium of Light on Wednesday 7th May. Players and hierarchy will be chatting with me and we'll be doing the ever popular Beat the Geordie in goal competition.

Quite a lot of interesting guests on the show this week; chatting with Martin Fry from ABC on Tuesday morning. He's got a new ABC CD ( Just think if we called them Digital Extraordinaires that would be ABC DE!!!!) coming out on the 12th May. It's called "Traffic" plus of course there is that huge 80's night on the 18th May with Rick Astley, Bananrama etc singing all the old ones.

"Traffic" though is really good with some very strong songs but I did accuse him of a bit of plagerism on one song which he knicked from Billy Joel. He was quite amused when we played the bit that had caught my ear and which had done my head in across the weekend listening to the track over and over again trying to work out that the hook I was trying to pinpoint was from "It's still Rock n Roll to me". See if it sounds the same to you when the new CD comes out.

Talking Rock n Roll and old songs, Alvin Stardust was with me on Thursday morning. He's appearing at The Maltings in Berwick at the end of the month and South Shields in November in what promises to be a really different evening. He was fascinating talking about being 15 years old and taking his guitar along to a Buddy Holly gig in Doncaster way back when. He wandered in at the Stage Door and as he was carrying a guitar they let him in thinking he was art of the band. He was then introduced to Buddy and ended up playing Peggy Sue with Buddy Holly singing along.

Such a fascinating guy who we'all remember as being the strange guy with the leather gear and gloves. Should be a great night with him telling stories about his 50 years in Rock n Roll. The guitar he got signed he also got signed by the Beatles, Stones, Hendrix and other greats and has been valued at $2 million. It's a one man show he's doing so I asked if he needed someone to carry the guitar for him. He said "No" – So I'll be doing the Lottery again this weekend!

Off to see the gorgeous Katherine Jenkins and Darcy Bussel next week and if you are coming too there's an opportunity to win a 3 night DFDS cruise if you listen to The Breakfast Show through the week. Altogether... "We are Sailing"
