Guess who's back?

Bonjour - j'ai retourne. Had a great time in France ... when I finally got there.
The plane was 3 hours late. Can I sue for loss of sunshine? My destination was near to Marseille and it's annoying that no one flies direct to there, however I just go to Nice and hire a car to then drive along the marvelous South Coast for a couple of hours and take in the sights and smells. And they are good ones.
It was a bit weird as the hire car guy talking in French asked if I wanted a Polo, a Yaris or a Hyundai Santa Fe 4x4 – No contest for a bloke really!
Sadly our local Qashqai wasn't an option as I'd have taken that instead. But I was blown away by the Santa Fe. It was a diesel and was a pretty green option even for a big wagon.
However I'm hoping they don't find me if the camera I passed at 140kph was active. Ssshhhh don't tell them where I am even though I deserve it.
Whilst I'm on recommendations try and find Riviera Radio if you are heading that way this summer, not as good as Magic 1152 obviously, but a good listen when the alternative is very French radio stations playing very French music.
The adverts were rubbish though, but gave me a good laugh. On Monday lunchtime I stood outside the airport in marvelous 34C sun and thought "Should I stay or should I go?"
But I missed talking to you so much, I got on the plane and came back to everyone talking about the gales across the weekend. It would appear to have been the right weekend to go away!
So back to reality and chatting to Peter Noone from Herman's Hermits on Wednesday morning was a good way to return. If you are a fan you will know he went to live in the States a long time ago, and I've got to say he must be the perfect advocate for England. Witty and charming, and I bet they "love that accent".
He was telling me about his early days on Coronation Street as Stanley Fairclough aged 12! Our family didn't even have a tele in those days and there he was starring on it. He left the show as his on screen Mum and Dad were splitting up and Mum took him to Australia.
He said he would go back to the show if they asked him. I think there would be a lot of women who would be attracted by his piercing blue eyes, even all these years later. He looks, and yes I'm envious, incredibly young still. It must be all that Californian sunshine.
Also on the show this week, a lady who I'll be going to see in July. Suzi Jari (apparently pronounced like Marie). She has been on the West End stage in some smaller parts but will be visiting The Customs House, South Shields on Friday 18th in a Musical all about Kathy Kirby.
Now, if you are a young 'un reading this then you'll have gone - "Who?" But if you are a red blooded male my age or above, boy oh boy you will not need any reminding.
I'm glad by that time we had got a tele and just watching her made me discover what hormones were, before I even knew what they were for.
Her most famous song was "Secret Love" and showed off her assets perfectly as she had to use her lungs quite a bit. Subsequently she was fleeced by her agent and ex-husband for something like £5m when that was probably worth £100m in today's money and had a series of breakdowns.
She's alive still though, but lives in isolation, a shadow of her former beautiful, talented self. That will be touched on in the show but overall I believe it's quite uplifting. I could do a joke about bras but I won't. I will be at the show proudly wearing my Kathy Kirby sweatshirt - come and say hello. But from me now, it's Goodbye.
