Sunderland have swooped for prolific Cork City striker Roy O'Donovan.
The 21-year-old 21-goal forward seemed certain to be on his way to Premier League rivals Fulham in a deal worth just under £1million.
But O'Donovan is yet to sign the deal with the Cottagers and Sunderland manager Roy Keane has agreed a fee with Cork City and is hoping to tie up a move for the highly-fancied forward while the Black Cats are in his home city.
O'Donovan is one of three players that Keane is hopeful of adding to the six close-season signings already brought in for the looming Premier League challenge.
Sunderland, who beat Bohemians 1-0 in Dublin last night with a second-half headed goal from sub Stern John, visit Cork City tomorrow night in a match to be screened live by Setanta.
