Youth football: Durham power to 11-0 rout
Durham County Schools FA Under-18s maintained their superb form with an emphatic 11-0 win against Cumbria.
But they next face a sterner test when they take on old rivals Northumberland at Whitley Park next Thursday (7pm).
Callum Charlton (St Aidan's) fired a penalty opener after full-back Alex Bone was brought down, with Rob Briggs doubling the lead before Charlton converted another spot-kick,
Liam McNall calmly slotted a fourth by half-time.
Cumbria refused to give in, only to be hit by an astonishing debut as Glen Scurfield rattled in a quickfire second-half hat-trick, while the tireless Johnny Evans, Briggs and two Darren Holden goals completed the rout.
