STEWART Wright has had to hand over his Washington Sunday night pool league player of the season trophy ... to his dad!
Alby (63) emulated his son’s success of last season in the North Biddick A team.
“It’s been great for me to pass the trophy to my dad,” said Stewart. “He has been brilliant all season and deserves his success.
“He has played pool for most of his life and even now at 63, he’s still a very tough opponent.”
Stewart and Alby were also successful with the rest of the team in retaining the league title this season – but it was a close call.
“The standard is getting stronger every year,” said Stewart.
“I would say the secret to our success is team spirit and good friendship. We have played togeather for 20 years; and it’s a great bunch of lads and players.
“I would also like to say a big thank-you to the unsung heroes, who make the league happen – Michael Baldridge, Billy Bell and Jimmy Gardener.”
