We can't wait for Newcastle clash - Keane

Roy Keane knows that there's no need to issue a rallying cry to fans this week to get behind the team.

Saturday lunchtime's Sunderland-Newcastle derby is a 48,000 sell-out and the excitement about the fixture is growing by the hour.

Black Cats boss Keane – a veteran of many Manchester derbies as a player – admitted: "There's no need to fire up the fans about this one.

"I think there'll be a fantastic atmosphere from the very start and we know that the fans are really looking forward to it.

"It's a game that the supporters really look forward to and it's great that there'll be such passion. Derby games are always intense but there is special rivalry here. Most derbies involve fans from the same city.

"But this one involves fans from two completely different cities on each others doorsteps.

"I dare say Sunderland people think they're better than Newcastle and Newcastle feel they're better than Sunderland and football is a great way of expressing that rivalry."
