VINCE Lorraine grabbed a superb 5-3 Thorney Close Premier League win over Tyne & Wear county player Alan Slight.
Lorraine, aiming to better last season’s league placing, had three excellent legs in 19, 20 and 21 darts, with Slight replying with a 20 and 21 darter of his own.
Title favourite Chris Bolam defeated a luckless Lee Rump 5-0.
Andy Lincoln also beat Steve Carr by the same scoreline including a 180.
Steve Richardson beat Jack Revely 5-1 with some superb darts.
Revely’s sole leg was in 18 darts, with Richardson reeling off legs in 16,17,18 and 19 darts including an 84 outshot.
Arguably the match of the night was between Ian Jarvis and Marco Laybourn.
Laybourn notched two 180’s with Jarvis hitting one. Jarvis took legs in 17,20 and 21 darts, with Laybourn hitting back in 15 and 20 darts.
Walter Scott beat newcomer Tommy Callan 5-0, while Tony Richardson shared the spoils with Mick Brown.
In the First Division, returning youngster Jordan Cook enjoyed two 5-0 victories with a 20 darter in his first match against Tony Bryant and a 21 darter in his final match against County player Neil Hardy.
Anth Devine lost to promotion chasing Darren Johnston 5-3. Then Devine lost his second match 5-0 against Alan Garden.
Gary Richardson enjoyed a fine 5-1 win over Neil Hardy with a 20 darter being the highlight.
Mick Callan continued his good start to the season with a resounding 5-1 win over Alan Garden.
Shaun Turnbull kept up his great start with a 5-3 win over Jason Allen.
Graham Mitton and Adam Lafferty shared the points, with Mitton hitting a 180 and Lafferty had two legs in 19 and 16 darts.
Dennis Cullen also won 5-3 against Dawn Evans.
