VICTORY Club, bottom in the Second Division of the Westoe Removals Sunderland Snooker League, produced a shock 4-1 win against high-flying Washington Snooker C.

Ray James, John Butler, David Burnikell and Alan Hough took all the singles before Bell and Collins rescued a point in the pairs.

Cheema’s C lost the first frames against Glendale with Frank McParlin beating Mark Farnsworth 50-42 before Steve Thompson, Paul Yuk and Paul Kirsop replied in the next three singles. Farnsworth and Thompson took the pairs for a 4-1 match result.

Washington Snooker B are clear in second place after winning 4-1 against St Gabriel’s with Steve Shotton having a 25 break in his singles.

Seaham Cons lost 4-1 away at Biddick B with Michael Simpson and Peter Mills having breaks of 26 and 24 in the first two frames before John Temple took the third for Biddick.

Ian Hughes took the fourth for the Cons but Straughan and Mills claimed the pairs.

Cheema’s A lost 3-1 in the singles against Murton Vic but took the pairs to keep the result to a 3-2 defeat. Pennywell Comrades C shared the singles frames against Farringdon B before Colin Wrathmall and Paul Grant won the pairs for a 3-2 to Farringdon. Murton Officials needed a 25 break by Jackson Mason in the pairs to beat Cheema’s B 3-2.

An outstanding performance by Steels, with a 5-0 away win at Woodside A, was the most significant move this week in the First Division.

Chris Cowie was 20 behind before a break of 49 moved him into a winning position. Neil McLaren had a comfortable success in the next before Tom Ayre had to battle to win the third.

Michael Sayers celebrated his wedding on Saturday by winning the pairs!

Mill View A dented the hopes of Hylton A with a 3-2 success after Bob Boyce and Darren Browne, aided by a fluke, had won the first two for Hylton.

Paul Jenkins started a comeback in the third, before Adam Burnell continued his impressive form with a 70-26 result in the fourth.

Davies and Burnell won a tight pairs frame 60-54 to complete the recovery.

Biddick A kept in touch when losing 3-2 to the Avenue, although the result could have been worse as Avenue missed two back balls for the game.

Washington Snooker A won 4-1 away at Farringdon after Jason Dewar won the first on the black and Mark Bell was impressive in the second. The next two frames were close before breaks of 28 and 30 by Ian Stewart and Tony Hazard claimed the pairs for the home team.

Whitburn looked on course for a whitewash against Pennywell Comrades A until Paul Wyatt had a good 49-48 fourth frame against John Smith. Garvin and Freeman won the pairs for Whitburn.

A brilliant show by Green Baize in the singles frames gave Mill View B little hope as breaks of 40, 51, 40 and 30 by Dean Wilson, Michael Peel, Craig Kane and Peter Dambrosie controlled the game. A fighting display by David and Bate rescued a point for Mill View in the pairs.

Seaham Knack had a strong team out against Woodside B but lost 3-2. Tom Stavers beat Shaun Donnelly in the first before Gary Stockton, with breaks of 32 and 26, levelled in the second.

Dave Manning and Glen Edwards shared the next two before Forman and Milner took the pairs 72-28 for Woodside. Dean Taylor gave Pennywell B the early lead before Andrew Jackson took the next for Hylton B.

The next two were shared with Ed Norton and Stu Taylor victors and Norton pairs with Daz Harem in winning the pairs.
