GRINDON secured an 8-0 win against Town End Farm in the D&P Trophies 3-2-1 Champions League, but the scoreline did not reflect the overall game.
Indeed, the match could have ended all square had the visitors been a bit more positive in their approach. Grindon, though, kept the pressure on throughout to emphasise their title ambitions.
Steels climbed into second place following a comfortable 8-0 home win over Grangetown and could be a threat to their title rivals.
Plains Farm had a great 7-1 away win over St Leonard’s, but again it was not plain sailing as they had to come back on two rinks to claim the points, just when it looked like the hosts were going to claim some points.
Farringdon secured an 8-0 home win over Silksworth Comrades, controlling the game from the off and never letting up, while NSCC (formerly Mitchells) claimed their first win in their new home at Seaham, overcoming Hetton 6-2.
Results: Farringdon 8 Silksworth Comrades 0, Grindon 8 TEF 0, St Leonard’s 1 Plains Farm 7, Steels 8 Grangetown 0, NSCC 6 Hetton 2.
