TOWN End Farm clinched the D&P Trophies Sunderland Club League championship – after being pushed hard by Steels before running out 6-2 winners.

Farm cruised to a 9-1 win in the first rink, but Steels impressively rallied to take the second 10-6. Steels even came from behind to lead in the decider, but Farm’s spirited fightback edged them home 8-6.

The title was confirmed when Grindon crashed 8-0 to Plains Farm.

Farm romped the first rink 8-0, but survived a late revival to edge the second 8-7 before squeezing home 6-5 in the last rink, after trailing 3-0.

St Leonard’s finished on a high with an 8-0 success against Mitchells to finish fourth, leaving them to rue their early-season form, while Grangetown beat Mitchells 6-2 in a fine last-day triumph. Silksworth Comrades beat Hetton 6-2 in a clash of two sides who have had up and down campaigns.
