GRINDON ramped up the pressure on Town End Farm in the D&P Trophies Sunderland League with an emphatic 8-0 home win over St Leonards.

St Leonards had won all their five previous games, but Grindon were in command from the outset and never looked like giving anything away.

They played as a team brimming with confidence, hoping to achieve their third consecutive title in a row.

Only Plains Farm now stand in their way.

St Leonards also won 6-2 against Grangetown to consolidate their position in fourth spot.

Town End Farm played twice this week and won both 6-2 - against Mitchells and Silksworth Comrades, dropping four precious points in their quest to win the title.

Their final game is away to Steels.

Plains Farm were worthy 6-2 winners away to Farringdon, who also lost by the same score away to Hetton.

Mitchells also played again and lost 6-2 to Steels.
