THOMPSON Insurance A underlined their dominance in the Sunderland and District Table Tennis division one, with an excellent 9-1 victory against Redby.
Andrew Wilkinson and Darren McVitie, of Thompson, kept up their unbeaten records in the league this season with three wins each.
Chris Blake added a further two, including a fine 3-2 success against Graeme Barella. However, he couldn’t repeat the performance against Anthony Barella, with the Redby player winning 3-1.
St Chads took advantage of Redby’s slip-up, winning twice to overhaul them into second place.
One of their wins came at the expense of Sacriston St Bedes A, as they won 9-1.
Tony Taylor scored a 3-0 win against Dave Bissett for Sacriston. The rest of the match was dominated by St Chads, with Bissett, Jimmy Scope and Neil Herrington.
St Gabriel’s A are in fourth spot after their 10-0 demolition of Silksworth IM A. The St Gabriel’s team of George Gibson, Norman Pescod and Tom Bainbridge made light work of dispatching the home side.
St Gabriel’s B continued their recent form in division two with a 7-3 win against West CA B.
Redby CA B have put themselves back into contention for promotion in division three with three wins, including a 10-0 victory against St John B. Joe Muldowney, Howard Forster and Allan Girdwood easily despatched the bottom side.
Silksworth IM B had a 6-4 victory against Boldon Tennis Club. Pringle then partnered Kenny Coates to a 3-1 victory in the doubles.
