Sunderland 'ready to offload Kavanagh'
Sunderland are ready to offload Graham Kavanagh permanently, reckons Sheffield Wednesday boss Brian Laws.
Laws fears he will lose the race to re-sign Kavanagh, who had a positive month on loan at Hillsborough before returning to Wearside.

The Irishman has not figured in the Black Cats' first team and with competition fierce in Roy Keane's midfield, it looks certain the playmaker will go in January.
Laws revealed today: "I have spoken to Roy Keane about Kavanagh. There are other interested parties, and they're looking at it on a full-transfer basis.
"We just can't cater for that at the moment. Kav is on Premiership wages, and we just can't cope with that.
"Maybe we can look at it again in January if he's still available."
Wednesday may not even succeed in a renewed loan deal for the Dubliner, who will be 34 on December 2 and was dogged by injury during his debut campaign with Sunderland last season.
Laws met Owls chairman Dave Allen about the midfield target and was told he must wheel and deal if he is to add to his squad.
Laws admitted that he is "up against it" if tomorrow's Football League loan deadline is to be beaten.
Laws said: "I've had a meeting with the chairman. I've got to try to wheel and deal before I can bring anybody else in.
"He says he's not going to put any more of his money in – not with the abuse he gets from a certain section of the crowd.
"I have to work within the framework of the football finances."
Keane confirmed to the Echo last week that Kavanagh's future was close to being resolved.
"Keane said at the time: "There has been more interest in Kav and I will probably sit down with him next week to talk it through.
"It's a difficult one because, as much as I want to keep him, I know that he wants to play football and Kav is not the only one in that situation here.
"As much as I have to look after the club, I have to be fair to the players too. Ultimately, it will have to be up to the player.
"I've got a lot of time for Kav, but I know he wants to play and, with Dean Whitehead coming back, and with Dwight Yorke almost fit again, then he will have a battle on his hands."
