Hungarian defender expresses interest in move to Sunderland
ANDERLECHT defender Roland Juhasz has flashed a “come and get me’” message to Martin O’Neill.
The Hungarian international centre-half has emerged as a potential target for Sunderland in the January transfer window..
And while keeping his options open, the 29-year-old has made it clear he would welcome a move to the Stadium of Light.
Ukrainian outfit Dnipro have also been linked with a player who has an excellent pedigree but who has barely featured for the Belgian club this season after falling out of favour.
And it seems certain that wherever he ends up going, the 6ft 4in defender will end up leaving Anderlecht.
“I’d like to play in Western Europe and of course Sunderland and the Premier League attracts me very much,” he said. “But I wouldn’t say no to Dnipro.”
Sunderland will welcome the Hungarian’s desire to leave Anderlecht and encouragement of the Black Cats to push forward with a move which could be concluded for less than £3m.
The Wearsiders’ need for reinforcements in central defence went from pressing to urgent at the weekend after Carlos Cuellar joined John O’Shea and Wes Brown on the injury list.
That leaves Martin O’Neill with just two available centre-halves ahead of this weekend’s game against West Ham – Titus Bramble and Matt Kilgallon – two players who are out of contract at the end of the season and the club has yet to make any effort to keep beyond the summer.
