Quinn: We already have the nucleus of a good side
Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn feels that the nucleus of a successful top-flight side is already at the Stadium of Light, despite the club being in the market for new signings.
He feels new manager Steve Bruce can help the Black Cats' current stars to blossom.
"Steve Bruce thinks that as well, it's not just me," said the chairman. "We made a lot of changes last year and we've made a lot of changes over the years and we've got some nice players here now.
"Steve was very aware of that before he took the job. We probably need a few men, a few spirited people to come in and lift what we have and make what we have better."
