Nine in a row misery for Pools
Travel-sick Hartlepool United made it nine away defeats in a row after being humbled 4-0 at 10-man Yeovil Town in League One today.
Pools produced their poorest display since being thrashed by MK Dons back in January to equal a 25-year barren spell on the road.
Yeovil were far from spectacular yet found themselves 2-0 up at half-time despite barely creating a chance from open play.
Gavin Tomlin opened the scoring from the penalty spot after a needless block with his hands by Peter Hartley before Gavin Williams curled in an inch-perfect free-kick from 25 yards.
Pools looked ragged in the closing stages of the first half and the effects of the half-time words came to nothing four minutes after the break when Sam Collins knocked the ball into his own net.
Yeovil were reduced to 10 men when Gavin Williams was sent off following an angry exchange with Andy Monkhouse.
But Pools fared little better with an extra man advantage and their embarrassment was confirmed when Dean Bowditch smashed a shot home after skinning Gary Liddle.
