Local football: Silksworth boosted by five new signings
Silksworth manager Chris Lindstedt has been busy on the transfer front and five players could play a part in tomorrow's game at Willington.
Ross Morton (South Shields), Andy Colledge (Easington Colliery) and Craig Peel, who has played for Sunderland RCA, Seaham Red Star and
Ryhope CW, have all moved in.
In addition, Lindstedt has signed Alan Tench and Matthew Reynolds. who played in the successful RCA Youth team last season.
"I decided we needed to strengthen the squad especially as Andrew Bowes, David Baker and John Smith are missing tomorrow," he said.
"In addition, a doubt surrounds Martin Armstrong so there is a good chance that the five newcomers will be involved."
Willington are bottom of the table but gave second top Scarborough Town a fright in the midweek League Cup tie.
The South Durham club has also been involved in transfers bringing in Philip Alderson, Adrian Western and Scott Hastie who are all expected to turn out against Silksworth.
Ashbrooke Belford House manager Tom Dobbing has potentially an injury crisis for the visit of Houghton Town.
Stuart Burton, Grant Bulmer and Mark Eggleston are definitely out Chris Charlton, Kenny Taylor, Lee Davison, Paul Robertson, David Baxter and Greg Dixon are all doubtful.
Houghton boss Steve Patton goes is unable to call upon captain Simon Williamson, Andrew Gartland or Stephen Anderson but Thomas Bell is set to make his full debut after being used as a substitute in the midweek fixture.
Easington Colliery enjoy the luxury of having a full squad available at Coxhoe Athletic who name Danny O'Brien, Tony Lee and Kevin Osmond. Adam McDonald and Chris Withers are unavailable.
Leaders Ryhope CW visit second top Scarborough Town in the Second Round of the Monkwearmouth Charity Cup.
Manager Martin Swales cannot call upon Shaun Petch and he will need to check on the fitness of Greg Swansbury and Kenny Linton.
The Seasiders are just four points behind Ryhope with a game in hand. They miss Mattie Brown who is with the North of England Under 18 side while Dean Craig is injured.
In the other tie Wolviston host Guisborough Town HC.
Boldon CA visit New Marske for a Sunderland Shipowners' Cup quarter-final tie.
They have transferred Shaun Caroll to Hebburn Town and James Whitehead has moved in from Birtley.
Mark Johnson, Michael Irving and Stephen Green are all ruled out.
