Durham quick on the draw

Two draws and a narrow win over Skilltrainingltd Northern League opponents might not be counted as success in some quarters, but for Durham City it spells real progress.

And joint managers Lee Collings and Dickie Ord take their squad to Woodley Sports tomorrow confident that they can take something out of the Evo-Stik Division One game.

Collings said: "I thought we could have won both our league matches. We showed great character in the second half against Garforth on Monday when we went down to 10 men and with a bit of luck might just have pinched a winner.

"We have a young side, lacking a little in experience but the commitment is tremendous and being unbeaten in three games is a far cry from last season."

The management pair, though, have selection problems for tomorrow. Stephen Thompson (ankles) and Mark Baitey (foot) are struggling for fitness, but there is more chance of Josh Home-Jackson and Elliott Cutts playing.

Both players had to be substituted against Garforth but have made good progress.

City also hope that Andrew Stephenson can return after being sidelined for a couple of weeks.

Ex-Bishop Auckland player Amar Purewal could be in the starting line-up following an impressive performance as a substitute on Monday when he paired up with his twin, Arjun.
