CLASS prevailed at Old Trafford where we were comfortably swept aside by Manchester United, writes Ryan Doneathy.
The first half essentially cost us the game, with some sloppy defending from O’Shea. Cuellar was the main culprit of shoddy defending, with all three of United’s goals coming after build-up play from Cuellar’s side.
The Spaniard is too slow to play in that position and I’d put Gardner at right-back for our trip to Southampton, as I feel he’s our best right-back at the minute.
In the second half, we finally saw some spirit from the side with Connor Wickham causing United a lot of problems. It’s worrying that Fletcher had to be taken off, but Wickham has the potential to be the perfect understudy.
He could count himself unlucky not to score, and looked a real handful. I’d be tempted to start him alongside Fletcher for the next fixture.
Our midfield once again was questionable.
Larsson looked lost in the first half and isn’t offering anything to the side in that position.
I’d personally like to see him replaced by Vaughan for the next few games.
Southampton is up next, and is every bit important as the past game against Reading was.
