LAST year’s title holders Steels reached the D&P Memorial Trophy Final after defeating St Leonards in the semi-final.
The first rink was nip and tuck but Steels gained the upper hand and won 8-4.
In the second rink, it looked Steels were going on to win comfortable as they led 6-1 after four ends, but a great fight-back by St Leonards to earn a 6-6 draw gave them hope on the last rink.
Steels, led by S.Moody in the third rink, ensured there was going to be no let-up. They were in command after four ends, leading 10-0.
St Leonards, led by C.Thompson, came back to within two points but Steels won 12-8 in the end, sealing victory 26-18 overall.
Grindon will be the opposition for Steels after their 32-14 semi-final win over Hetton.
The first rink for Grindon win easily 13-5.
The second rink this was much closer, with Grindon coming out on top 7-6 and in the last rink Grindon eased home 12-2.
Grindon now have a great chance of the double as they are in contention with Town End Farm for the league championship.
