SILKSWORTH showed their strength in their big Earl Cup showdown with Division One leaders Roker Marine to cruise to a one-sided victory.

The visitors showed no mercy in thumping Marine 90-39 (6½-½) and now lead Marine by two points.

Houghton Town have never won the Earl Cup, but they are still unbeaten as they recorded a seventh straight win, defeating Thompson Park 86-41 (7-0) and are now also only two points adrift of top spot.

In Division Two, Whitburn remain unbeaten after a 5-2 at Sunderland and have a nine-point lead over Herrington Workmen.

Swan Cup holders Houghton Dairy Lane enjoyed a good 7-0 win at bottom club Roker Park to close the gap on the leaders Roker Marine, who lost 6-1 at Usworth.

Seaham Town will look to extend their lead at the top of the Storey Bowl as they entertain Pennywell, whil second-placed Houghton Town have a bye week.
