Shepherd set to bid £60m for Newcastle
The BBC reports that former Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd is heading a consortium that will bid £60m for Newcastle United.
Alan Shearer will be handed the manager's job, if that bid is successful.
The BBC understands that Shepherd's offer is likely to be accepted.
Shepherd sold his Newcastle shares to current owner Mike Ashley two years ago as part of a 134m deal for the club.
