Selby stuns Prins in Knack Premier League opener

The Knack Premier League kicked off this week with a host of new faces and it didn’t take long for some to settle, with some blistering displays throughout the night.

Richard Selby produced the most stunning result of the evening whne he defeated Dave Prins 5-3.

Selby took the opening leg with a brilliant 126 finish for a 15-dart leg and that set the game up.

Selby hit a brace of 180s, with Prins hitting one himself and Selby backed up his opening leg with a 13-darter and followed them with a brace of 17 dart legs. Prins’ legs came in 14 (twice) and 16 darts.

Selby then dished out a 5-0 defeat to Durham youth star Ross Guy.

Chris Vaughan started his debut campaign positively, recording two 5-0 wins over Arran Samuels and Will Neave.

Samuels responded in his second game of the night to beat David Brown 5-3.

Debutant Allen George recorded two fine wins to claim all six points on offer.

George played Alan Smith and ran away a comfortable 5-1 win and then defeated Eddie Ashman by the same scoreline.

Neil Rose recorded two fine wins when he defeated Rob McCluskey 5-0 and edged out Anth Skelton 5-3..

McCluskey was on the receiving end of a 5-0 hammering in his other game against Dave Prins.

Skelton was also on the receiving end of a 5-1 defeat by newcomer John Watson.

Paul Williams was in sensational form, strolling to two solid wins. Williams beat newcomer Darren Patton 5-1 and then saw off John Scullion 5-0.

Patton made sure he took something on the night when he beat Kevin Guy 5-1 in his second game.

Scullion was beaten 5-3 in his other game of the night against Will Neave.

Dan Gillibrand began his campaign with 5-2 victories over both Philly Dunn and Alan Smith.

Dunn was an easy 5-0 winner over Barry Rutherford in his second game of the night.

Rutherford was on the receiving end of a 5-1 loss against Davey Thompson in his first game of the night, who then went on to thump Andrew Ambler 5-0 in his second game.

Ambler had beaten the returning Kevin Guy 5-3 in his opening match.

Dougie Hall beat Graeme Hills 5-3, with Hall hitting best legs of 16 and 20 darts. Hall lost his second game 5-2 against Eddie Ashman.

Davy Richardson managed to secure two points in his draws with Matthew Hodgson and Graem Hills.

Hodgson was on the receiving end of a 5-2 defeat against Spiller Henderson, who won his first game 5-0 against Ross Guy.

Ryan Joyce won 5-0 against David Brown and 5-2 against John Watson.
