SEAHAM showed their mettle to clinch the Division Two championship on the final day of the North Durham Union of Golf Clubs league campaign.
Seaham went into the last-day showdown three points clear of closest rivals Chester-le-Street, and a 9-5 home success sealed the title in style – finishing winners by seven points.
Houghton could have claimed second place, but their 9-5 defeat at Crook left them out of the running in third.
Washington secured only their second win of the campaign, thrashing Beamish Park 10-4, but were relegated in bottom spot.
Durham City rocked neighbours Ramside Hall by landing the First Division crown.
City were in third place going into the final night, a point behind second-top South Moor and two adrift of leaders Ramside.
But a stunning 13-1 home triumph against Wearside took the Langley Moor-based club into top spot at the end of the action, with Ramside falling short despite a hard-earned 8-6 last-day victory at Consett. South Moor’s chances evaporated with an 8-6 defeat to Heworth.
Hobson, on a bye week, clung on to the Third Division title as rivals Whickham lost 10-4 at third-placed Whitburn when they needed to pick up 12 points to snatch the championship.
