BARRY Rutherford put an end to Mark Robinson’s recent run of form in the Knack Darts Premier League with a hard fought 5-3 win to record his first win in nine games.
He included two 20-darter legs in the win.
Kevin Guy moved back to top spot with an excellent win against reigning champion Graham Mullen who had replaced him at the top last week.
Guy stormed out of the blocks to take a 3-0 lead including a 116 checkout before Mullen threatened a comeback. But Guy proved too strong with a 15-dart leg to clinch the win.
John Redpath beat Paul Gillibrand 5-1 in the first of his two games on the night before coming up against Paul Williams. His deadly finishing was the difference between the two players with Paul checking out on a 132 in a 5-1 win.
Steve Skinner pulled off a shock draw against Paul earlier in the night with Williams finishing again being the difference, this time however it was missed double’s what cost Paul two points and the chance to move top.
Spiller Henderson produced a spirited display which included a 180, but ran into an on-form Jimmy Ashett who came out on top 5-0 with a maximum of his own.
Eddie Ashman was another 5-0 winner against Anthony Gale who seems to be struggling for form despite an impressive start to the season.
Anth Skelton inflicted a second defeat on Paul Gillibrand on the night with a comfortable 5-1 win which saw him move up to eighth place.
Davey Thompson hit 14 ton plus scores and a tremendous 122 checkout to secure a fine 5-1 win over Martin Price.
Ray Malarkey pushed Neil Rose all the way to a deciding leg, but came up just short as Rose bounced back from last week’s defeat to cement his place in the top eight with a 5-3 win.
Alan Smith and Phil “the power” Dunn shared the points with a 4-4 draw in a game both players had numerous chances to win.
