SUNDERLAND ran riot to secure their first win of the season in the North East Premier League.
The Wearsiders had a full 21-man squad for the first time, and visitors Catterick Crusaders duly suffered a 15-try, 88-14 defeat at Mortimer School in South Shields.
James Pocklington led the way with a five-try super show, with man of the match Derek Worthington adding four scores. Fellow backs Mark Wilson (2) and Ben Slater also touched down, with forwards Raymie Elliott (2) and Jack Weddell also scoring.
Pocklington added seven conversions, Paul Munro fired over six and Worthington also got in on the act.
Anthony Bolton, Geordie Spencer, Shaun Richardson and Elliott were outstanding.
Sunderland visit second-top Jarrow Vikings today.
H Peterlee Pumas are finding life tough in the Rugby League Conference’s National Third Division.
The bottom club managed four tries, though, in last week’s 92-20 loss to Woolston Rovers, with Nathan Myers touching down twice, and adding two goals. Richard Foster and Wayne Wild also grabbed tries.
