CHESTER-le-Street’s Rosie Lindsay has qualified for the 2015 Triathlon Sprint Age Group World Championships in Edmonton, Canada, after setting a blistering pace in the 750m swim leg of the Nottingham Triathlon.
On the way to the youth bronze medal, Lindsay qualified in an overall time of 1.06.10.
The 17-year-old Durham Triathlon Club member, who also swims competitively for Chester-le-Street ASC, took second spot behind Lincolnshire’s Lauren York in the 17-19 year age group.
Lindsay completed the 750m swim in 9 minutes 33 seconds – a massive 43 seconds ahead of her nearest rival, before completing the 21.2km bike ride in 33.37 and the 5km run in 21.02.
Lindsay now has her sights firmly set on this month’s European Age Group Championships, to be held in Kitzbuhel, Austria.
She again qualified in third place at the British Triathlon Federation Sprint Championships/Eton Sprints.
Lindsay is seeking sponsorship to support her European and World Championship challenges.
