The ‘Rocket’ Ronnie Gill continued his impressive form since joining the Knack Darts Premier League, despite some time out from darts, when he whitewashed Barry Rutherford.
Gill hit a maximum and had a tremendous 140 checkout as he won in legs of 17, 18 and 19 darts. The win sees Gill move within a point of the coveted top eight.
Anthony Gale moved up a few places when he secured two wins on the night.
Firstly, Gale saw off Ray Malarkey with a scrappy 5-2 win, with a 110 finish by Malarkey the highlight of the match.
Next up for Gale was Neil Richardson and best legs of 18 and 19 darts saw Gale secure another three points in another 5-2 win.
Paul Williams’ great form continued after another big competition win on Saturday which saw him triumph in Ashington, beating rising PDC star Adam Hunt in the final.
Williams also whitewashed the former Grand Slam semi-finalist Kevin Mcdine in an earlier round.
John Squire was his opponent this week and despite an improved display, he was no match for Williams, who won in legs of 20, 17, 19 and 15 (twice) darts, including a 180 to record a 5-1 win.
Earlier, Squire lost by the same scoreline as 17 and 21 darts by Alan Smith saw him take the points.
Kevin Guy stayed second after another strong performance as he overcame John Redpath 5-2, with 15, 17 and 19 darts doing the damage for Guy.
Davey Thompson strolled to an easy 5-0 win over Anth Skelton with winning legs of 23 (twice), 19 (twice) and 21 darts.
Graham Mullen stays third after he beat Martin Price 5-2.
Neil Rose made it four wins in a row as he cemented his place in the top eight with a 5-0 win over Neil Mather.
A determined Eddie Guy showed all his battling qualities as he fought back to share the points with an impressive Steve Skinner in a 4-4 draw.
