Chris Ranson finished second in the 3rd/4th category event, at the Thursday Criterium League at Middlesbrough, despite a puncture with only two laps to go.
Chris has now accumulated 44 points which moves him up as a 2nd Category rider.
He will be riding with his brother Richie Ranson, who has also moved up as a 2nd category rider.
The winner of the event was Brett Stocks (Sharrow Cycling Club).
Time Trailists this week were Mal Sellers, Paul Whitehill, Steve Homer and Mark Harrison.
Mark was riding the Tyneside Vagabonds open 10-mile TT and finished sixth with a time of 23 minutes 10 seconds.
The winner was Keith Murray (Strategic Lions Cycling) in a time of 21 minutes 33 seconds.
Mal Sellers, Paul Whitehill and Steve Homer rode the Northumbria Police CC open 10-mile Time Trial on Sunday.
Paul Whitehill finished 20th, with a time of 23 minutes and 51 seconds. Mal Sellers finished 27th in a time of 25 minutes and 5 seconds.
And Steve Homer finished 37th with a time of 27 minutes and 47 seconds.
The winner was Keith Murray in a superb time of 20 minutes 28 seconds.
Houghton CC had Paul Robson, Paul Whitehill, and David Stevens taking part in the final round of the Muddy Brown Cyclox events, which was held at Hetton Lyons Country Park.
This was a particularly hard course and the riders found it very strenuous.
The winner was Alan Nixon, of Blackhawk bikes, Rob Smith (Derwentside CC) was second and Carl Donaldson (GS Metro) finished thrid.
Houghton’s riders came in 16th David Stevens, 25th Paul Whitehill and 27th Paul Robson.
The overall league winner were James Anderson (Adept Precision – Vet over 40).
Second was Rob Smith (Derwentside CC – Vet over 40) and third was Ray Honour (MTS Cycle Sport – Vet over 40).
Paul Robson (Houghton CC – Vet over 50) was 16th. David Stevens, the senior rider came 26th and Paul Whitehill (Vet over 40) came 58th.
Houghton CC had a group of nine riders riding Darlington County Council’s “Hell of the North” sportive.
It covered 100 gruelling miles in very windy conditions, which left Darlington for Wenslydale, Hawes, Kirkby Stephen, Brough, Middleton in Teesdale, Egglestone and back to Darlington.
Houghton CC has circuit racing at the former Nissan Track this Sunday, and there is still time to enter, either via the British Cycling website or on the line.
