TITLE favourite Paul Williams ended the season with a bang by defeating fellow contender Sue Edwards 5-2 in the Thorney Close Premier League.
Williams, pictured, reeled off an impressive array of legs in 15, 16, 18, 19 and 20 darts. Edwards’ legs were equally impressive as she notched a 180 and legs in 18 and 21 darts.
Andy King finished the league with the fewest defeats after a 5-0 win over an out-of-sorts Andy Lincoln. King’s highlights were legs in 19 and 20 darts.
Previous champion and runner-up Chris Bolam managed to defeat Vince Lorraine, who was fighting for his Premier League life. Bolam took superb legs in 19 darts and a pair of 17 dart legs, while Lorraine’s best came in 18 darts.
Lorraine went on to claim three precious points in a 5-1 win over Steve Richardson with two 20 darters and a leg in 21.
Richardson’s night got worse as he was beaten 5-1 by Bobby Turnbull 5-1.
In a busy night for Turnbull, he also drew 4-4 with already-relegated Tony Richardson. The highlight of the match was a cool 117 finish from Richardson.
Turnbull went on to lose 5-3 to Walter Scott, who hit a trio of 19-darters in the win. Ian Jarvis ended the season in fifth place with a victory over Tony Richardson.
Jarvis turned on the style to record a 5-2 win, taking legs in 17, 18 and 20 darts with a 100 checkout.
Marco Laybourn beat bottom-placed Alan Garden 5-0 with the help of a 19-darter and a 91 checkout.
Finals night is next Wednesday.
