STEVE Skinner made up for the disappointment of missing out on Grand Finals night by taking the spoils in the play-offs for the bottom eight players in the Knack Darts Premier League, with a 6-3 win against Martin Price in the final.
Skinner, who was in the top eight all season, recovered from last week’s devastating defeat that saw him drop out of next week’s finals, where three-time BDO world champion Martin “Wolfie” Adams will be in attendance.
Up first for Skinner was John Allan, who despite finishing last, put in a spirited display.
However, Skinner, above, still came through with a 5-2 win, including legs of 17, 18 and 21 darts, John replying in 21 and 18 darts, including a 108 checkout.
Anthony Gale made it through to the last four with a 5-2 win against Spiller Henderson.
Gale stormed into a 4-0 lead with a couple of 20-darters before Spiller threatened a comeback by taking the next two legs before Gale won the next.
Phil Dunn produced a shock with a thrilling comeback from 4-2 down against Alan Smith to win 5-4, with 19 and 20-darters from both players the highlights.
Martin Price came out on top in a high-scoring contest against Neil Richardson with a 5-3 win, featuring best legs of 16, 18 and 21 darts to join his local league team mates in the last four.
Skinner made it through to the final with a 5-2 win against Gale, but Dunn could not match his performance of the last round as Price swept him aside in a 5-1 win.
In the final it was Skinner who made a blistering start, winning the first five legs to move one away from victory, with two 19-darters and a 21-dart leg, before Price fought back to 5-3 with two 20-dart legs.
However, it was not to be as a final leg of 21 darts was enough for Skinner to claim victory.
