North Biddick’s Malcolm Thompson reached a milestone this season – 40 years a member of the club.

To mark this milestone, the club presented him with a clock in the form of a bowler.

Malcolm was invited to the club by a friend and immediately loved the sport and the club, and has remained a loyal member ever since, often saying he would rather throw his woods in the bin than join another club!

For the last 10 years he has been the club secretary. This year has been the pinnacle of his career, having been chosen to be president of Sunderland & District Bowling Association.

As the indoor season slowly gets going, it has been confirmed that Hebburn have resigned from the Inter-Club League and the Seniors League.

As a result, Sunderland A will have a bye on September 15 and their first game will now be against Houghton A in two weeks time.
