SUNDERLAND darts star Paul Williams finished the BDO British Inter County Championship campaign with the best average in Division Four.
Though Tyne and Wear ended up in mid-table, fifth in a division won by Breconshire, Williams helped the men’s A team to have the best results over the season in their section.
Williams had an impressive average of 35.62 from his seven wins out of seven, just ahead of team-mate Andy Chalmers, and was 11th best throughout the divisions of a league featuring hundreds of players from throughout England, Scotland and Wales.
Chalmers, who won all nine of his matches, had an average of 35.31, for 14th overall.
Middlesbrough’s England International Glen Durrant, the current Seaham Knack Open champion, finished second asCleveland ended up as runners-up in Division Two.
Durrant also finished fifth overall (36.83).
Durham finished seventh in Division One, with Keith Gowland (34.52) having their best average.
