DAVEY Thompson and Neil Rose will contest the final of the John Smith’s Knack Darts Premier League’s inaugural Cath Rose Memorial competition.
The Seaham league marked the halfway point of the season with the individual knockout event, with the entry list whittled down to two for the end-of-season final. The format was the first to all 20 doubles.
John Squire made his debut in the last 16, but was edged out by Steve Skinner.
Kevin Guy landed a tough draw against Paul Williams and duly succumbed 2-0 in a close game, while Davey Thompson showed his class in coming from behind to beat Martin Price, taking the second leg in style, finishing from double four all the way round to double 20.
Williams rallied from a leg down to beat Tyne and Wear County team-mate Anth Skelton in the quarter-finals, while Thompson comfortably outgunned Skinner.
In the other half of the draw, a determined Neil Rose came from behind to pip Jimmy Ashett, while Eddie Ashman was pushed all the way by Spiller Henderson.
Thompson shocked favourite Williams in his semi-final, setting up a final showdown with Rose, who produced a stunning performance in recovering from a leg down to beat Eddie Ashman.
