SUNDERLAND swimmer Adam Taylor made it double gold joy at the British Gas Swimming Championships to reinforce his spot as one of the country’s top prospects.
Taylor successfully defended his junior 50metres butterfly title at the national championships last week and then took silver in the 50m backstroke on Sunday night.
But the Sunderland Swimming Club teenager was back on the top of the podium in Glasgow last night after winning the junior 200m backstroke in a time of 2minutes 4.35s.
Earlier in the day, the 17-year-old was ranked 12th in the country overall, with his time in the senior 200m backstroke.
But while Taylor continued his successful week at the championships, fellow Sunderland swimmer Jonathan Carlisle missed out on his objective of securing a place on the England team for the summer’s Commonwealth Games.
Carlisle, 21, finished in fifth spot in the final of the 200m backstroke in a time of 2m 1.75s.
