South Hylton's march to title has no signs of letting up

South Hylton secured a superb 3-1 victory over Seaham Conservatives A to maintain their lead at the top of Danby Autos Sunderland Snooker Summer League Group One.

Leaders South Hylton began well with Adam Smith winning the first frame with the aid of a 26 break.

Ian Hughes levelled the match before Gavin Dixon moved Hylton back into the lead.

In the pairs, Graham Rutland/Smith beat Michael Monaghan/Hughes on the final black 65-62 for the 3-1 win.

Steven Tate got Biddick A off to a good start away at Steels before Tommy Ayre levelled the match.

Lee Norton moved Steels into the lead before Rod Turnbull/David Adamson won the pairs frame, beating Ray Charlton Senior/Vince Flynn 56-45 to force a 2-2 draw.

The Hetton Centre got off to an excellent start at home to Pennywell Comrades A, thanks to Paul Stoves and Paul Nord.

Joe Turner potted well to pull one back for Pennywell, before teaming up with Steve O’Wellen to win the pairs, seeing off Ernie Bonsall/Steven Rushworth 55-24 for a 2-2 draw.

In Group Two, leaders Boldon CA had a bye this week so the remaining teams in the group were hoping for good results to try and close the gap.

Bobby Carne got Seaham Conservatives B off to a flying start at home to Mill View, with Justin Ebdy winning the second frame.

Manna Singh won a high scoring third frame before Howard Lax/John Spruce won Mill View a consolation point in the pairs frame, beating Robin Midson/Tony Grimes 56-45.

Pennywell Comrades B welcomed Murton Colliery and John Campbell got them off to the perfect start before Eddie Williamson levelled the match.

Stephen Clementson moved Murton into the lead before teaming up with Eddie Williamson to win the pairs, beating Andrew Doran/Anthony Longstaff 63-42 for the 3-1 win.

However, Murton have been docked five points for not playing the fixture on the correct day.
