RYHOPE’S Win Carter, Carol McAdoo and Brenda Forrest are celebrating their biggest win – the Sunderland Women’s Bowling Association’s town triples.
In the final at Barnes Park, the Ryhope trio defeated Whitburn’s Linda Shaw, Maureen Smith and Moira Smith 23-10.
Both finalists had narrow semi-final victories, Ryhope defeating Thompson Park’s Kathleen Hulley, Alice Rush and Anne Raine 20-16 while Whitburn saw off Silksworth’s Jean Milner, Rene Mallaburn and Sheila Davis 17-15.
The latter stages of the fours event was played at Silksworth and the final turned out to be an all-Thompson Park affair as Doreen Kerrigan, Rhoda McGee, Alice Rush and Mary Ramshaw pipped Kathleen Hulley, Mary Williamson, Anne Raine and Florence Rodenby 19-18 in a tight thriller.
In the semi-finals, the Ramshaw quartet beat Barnes Park’s Joy Winton, Eleanor Watson, Margaret Cockburn and Joyce Goldsmith 21-15 while Rodenby’s quartet proved too strong for Sunderland’s Pauline Temple, Jean Graham, Janet Sykes and Susan Almond, winning 21-14.
