GRAHAM Mullen was the star man in the Seaham Knack Premier League this week, producing an excellent performance in a 5-2 win over Anth Skelton, with no leg going longer than 19 darts.

Mullen opened up with a 16-darter before Skelton levelled in 17. However, Mullen won the next three in 17 (twice) and 19 darts to move 4-1 ahead.

Skelton never gave up and a maximum in a 16-dart leg saw him trail 4-2, but a third 17-darter by Mullen secured the three points.

Davey Thompson collected six points on the night with two victories. First up, against Ronnie Gill, Thompson stormed into a 4-0 lead with the help of 15 and 17-dart legs.

A maximum in a 17-darter by Gill, followed by a 22-dart leg, saw him reduce the deficit to 4-2. However, Thompson took the next to win 5-2.

Thompson then met Neil Rose, and despite sharing the opening two legs, he pulled clear. Thompson won four straight legs in 19, 17 and 15 (twice) darts, including a 101 and a match-winning 156 checkout.

Rose had picked up a victory earlier in the night when he beat Spiller Henderson 5-2.

Paul Williams whitewashed Martin Price with 16 scores of 100 or more, and winning legs of 16, 18, 19 and 20 (twice) , while a 180 was Price’s highlight.

Kevin Guy came out on top 5-1 against Alan Smith. After an indifferent first leg, Guy showed his class as he won in legs of 17, 21 and 20 (twice) darts, while Smith hit a 180 in his solitary 21-dart winning leg.

John Squire came crashing back down to earth after last week’s success when he met Eddie Ashman. Best legs of 14 and 19 darts saw Ashman cruise home 5-0.

John Redpath ended his winless streak with a 5-2 defeat of Eddie Guy.

Anthony Gale blew a 3-0 lead as Steve Skinner recovered to win the next five legs to complete an excellent comeback to win 5-3.

Barry Rutherford finally hit his first 180 of the season, but it still was not enough for victory as he had to settle for a point in a 4-4 draw with Neil Richardson.

Neil Mather hit a brilliant 125 checkout and a 19-darter, but missed doubles proved costly as he also had to settle for a point after blowing a 4-1 lead against Ray Malarkey.
