Laybourn closes in on leader

MARCO Laybourn won two games to close the gap on leader Micky Callan in the Thorney Close Darts Premier League.

He beat Jack Revely 5-3 then saw off Walter Scott 5-2, including a 19-dart leg and three 21-darters, to move within two points of the top.

Callan remains on top after beating Tony Richardson 5-1. His best leg was in 18 darts and he had outshots of 118 and 106.

Steve Dykes maintained his good run by beating Andy Lincoln 5-1. He had two 21-dart legs and a 180.

Vince Lorraine beat Tom Davies 5-0, while Steve Carr beat Dan Scott 5-1.

Steve Richardson beat Darren Johnston 5-2 with both players having legs in 20 darts.

Ian Wilkinson drew with Alan Slight in a very tight match. Wilkinson had three 15-dart legs, with Slight having one in 15 darts and two in 18.

In Division One, Denny Cullen beat Alan Garden 5-1, while Tony Bryant got his second win of the season by beating Adrian Burgess 5-2.

Tony Cummings beat Kristian Summerside 5-2 with a best leg of 19 darts.

Adrian Burgess beat Paul Wilkinson 5-2 then lost to Jamie Scott by the same score.

Danny Cullen saw off Kristian Summerside 5-1, including the highest checkout of the night – 141.
