GLENDALE produced a magnificent performance to inflict the first defeat of the season on Green Baize in Division One of the Westoe Removals Sunderland Snooker League.

Craig Bell set the ball rolling with a 55-29 win against Dean Wilson in the first before Peter Dambrosie won 75-36 against Frank McParlin to level.

A terrific performance by John Wiseman, including a 28 break, saw him beat Craig Kane 43-15 to restore the lead.

This set the scene for the frame of the match with John Danby losing 56-60 on the black to Jeff Burn to force a fifth frame decider.

John Danby gained retribution as twinned with Paul Foster and they won the pairs 64-51 against Kane andBurn to register a 3-2 victory.

The expected challenge by Lumley A has now materialised as a 5-0 victory against St Gabriels moved into second place in Division Two.

Martin Ball had a 32 break in the first frame, while scoring 71 points, leaving his opponent little chance of pursuing a challenge.

A break of 44 by Paul Stoves in the second, continued his impressive start to the season and will possibly cause his handicap to be adjusted.

Ernie Bonsall and Martin Ball won a tight pairs frame 61-41 against Hagel and Rackstraw for a clean sweep.
