THE emotional final day of indoor bowls at Crowtree saw a surreal 45-a-side club friendly take place before club president Michael Davis gave a Churchillian closing speech before inviting club legend and former England International Jim Lambert to deliver the last ever bowl at Crowtree.
This ended a 36-year relationship between the indoor club and the leisure centre, and the moment left many in tears as time was called on Crowtree and the lights went out for the final time.
Despite the club now being officially homeless it has been confirmed the club will compete next season in the Denny Cup, Inter County League, Seniors Inter County League and two entries in the Over 60’s double fours competition.
The club are still in discussion with the council regarding an alternate venue.
The club secretary has also confirmed around six sets of bowls were left in lockers at Crowtree – a description and photos will be added to the club website and claimants can contact the club secretary.
