Eddie Ashman stars with win in 11 darts

Have your say

EDDIE Ashman was in scintillating form as he whitewashed Alan Smith 5-0 in the Knack Darts Premier League.

He won the first leg in 20 darts before just missing out on what would have been a season’s-best 11-dart leg when he wired the double 19.

He won that leg in 15 darts, but did manage an 11-darter in the next leg!

He threw five perfect darts to start the leg, winning with scores of 180, 140, 97 and an 84 checkout in two darts.

The win leave him one point off the top of the table.

Leader Neil Rose, fresh from his man-of-the-match performances in both the A and B team for the Tyne and Tear county side, beat John Allan 5-2, although neither played too well on the night.

Graham Mullen came back from 2-1 behind to beat fourth-placed Davey Thompson 5-2 – including three 180s and winning legs in 15 and 16 darts (twice) as well as two 19-darters.

Martin Price continued his recent return to form with a comfortable 5-1 win against Spiller Henderson with a 180 and winning legs in 18, 19, and 20 darts .

Kevin Guy outclassed Neil Richardson with best legs of 15, 19 and two 21-darters in a 5-0 whitewash.

In a game which neither player could afford to lose, Ryhope’s John Redpath and Paul Gillibrand played out an entertaining draw to leave just one point seperating them as the chase for the last two spots in the top 8 hots up.

Redpath looked on course for a crucial win when leading 3-1 but Gillibrand showed his determination to qualify for finals night to come back and snatch a draw.

Phil Dunn has finally started showing glimpses of what he’s capable of the past few weeks and looked set to condemn Steve Skinner to a defeat.

However, the league’s surprise package showed why he’s riding high in the table by reeling off three straight legs in 15 and two 20 darters – including a 106 checkout – to grab the three precious points.
