EDDIE Ashman finally knocked Neil Rose off the top spot in the Knack Premier League with a comfortable 5-1 win in their head-to-head clash.

The win leaves Ashman needing just a point to secure first place in this year’s final table.

Rose started strongly with a 16-dart leg, including a 180, to take the lead – but Ashman took over from there.

He came back to win, scoring two 180s and having best legs of 17, 18 and 20 darts.

Kevin Guy looks to be hitting form at just the right time with finals night only a couple of weeks away.

He easily beat bottom-placed John Allan 5-0 with 18, 20 and two 15-dart legs the highlights.

Davey Thompson is another player on form as he showed in beating Anthony Gale 5-0 with best winning legs of 19, 20 and two 15-darts including superb finishes of 135, 101 and 100.

Graham Mullen again showed why he is a tip for finals night with a 5-2 win against the heavy-scoring Paul Gillibrand. Mullen had 15, 20 and two 19-dart legs including a 180, with Paul replying in 17 and 18 darts as well as a 122 finish.

John Redpath kept his chances of a finals night place alive with a 4-4 draw with Anth Skelton to set up next week’s final game against Steve Skinner.

Redpath needs a win to climb above Skinner into the top eight after Skinner missed out on the chance to guarantee his place with a 4-4 draw with Neil Richardson.

Skinner hit a 180 in a best leg of 17 darts while Richardson hit his best leg of the season in just 14 darts.

Alan Smith staged a great comeback against Martin Price for a 4-4 draw. Price looked to be heading for a fine win winning the first four legs in 15, 17, 19 and 21 darts but Smith then reeled off four straight legs in 20 and two 21-darters, including an excellent 144 checkout.

Spiller Henderson stopped a run of four losses with a 5-1 win against Phil Dunn with two 20-dart legs the best.

In a catch-up game, Martin Price ran out a 5-1 winner against Anthony gale with 21 and three 20-darters.
